Don’t let your puppy get sick… and don’t you get sick either!

Although puppies are always synonymous with happiness and well-being, we must be aware that all furry dogs, from puppies to the oldest ones, can bring home organisms that could make us sick.

 

During their walks, our pets are in contact with a wide variety of bacteria, parasites, fungi and even small worms! that cause dog and human diseases: from mild skin infections to more serious things, such as respiratory or stomach ailments.

 

Among the most common examples is the bacterium Campylobacter, that can cause diarrhea, fever and stomach pain in humans; there is also the parasite GiardiaAnother example is ringworm, caused by a fungus that infects the skin, hair and nails of animals and people.

 

And while everyone can be at risk, special care should be taken with infants, children, pregnant women and people with weak immune systems.
